Galley Common Water Leak Still Flowing After More Than Two Weeks

If you live in or around Galley Common, Nuneaton, then you’ll be aware of the massive water leak on Plough Hill Road next to Galley Common Infant School.

The water has been leaking since the end of November now and there is no sign of any repairs being carried out. Thousands of gallons of water are still flowing down Plough Hill Road over two weeks later, causing havoc along the footpath and road during the snowy weather.

I spoke with officers in Warwickshire County Council‘s Highways Department this morning and asked them to chase Severn Trent Water up for an update as it’s been three weeks since the hydrant burst.

Severn Trent have advised that when they dug down it wasn’t a simple repair job and will take longer than expected as they’ll need to carry out a complete replacement.

WCC have been to Plough Hill Road and have carried out a spot grit and will get some slippery road warning signs out for now. They also asked Severn Trent to get a few bags of salt around the leak to act as a saline solution for the running water.

I also found out that Severn Trent have asked for an extension for the works until 29 December.
